2012 Shelby Mustang GT500

2012 Shelby Mustang
Shelby American announced its plan to unveil the 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake at the New York Auto Show.
The base price for a 2012 Shelby Mustang GT500 Super Snake is $82,894 according to Shelby American's Web site, including the cost of a donor Ford Mustang GT. The 800-horsepower supercharger option is an extra $1500 on its own, but we suspect you'll want to budget a total of closer to $100,000 for a few more Shelby-optional cooling and suspension modifications with that kind of power

With a splashy new ad that debuted during Super Bowl XLV this past weekend, Volkswagen has brought us one step closer to the all-new 2012 New Beetle. The commercial followed a black beetle with racing stripes -- of the insect variety -- zipping through a forest, and ending with the outline of the newest New Beetle being traced around our buggy friend.

Porsche Turbo S can hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds

2012 Porsche Panamera Turbo
Porsche says the Turbo S can hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, 0.3 second quicker than the regular Panamera Turbo, and reach a top speed of 190 mph -- a two-mph improvement over the stock Turbo.
The power upgrades resemble those provided by a Porsche-issued Turbo Powerkit, which can be fitted on the Panamera Turbo to raise output to 540 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. That kit costs $21,730.
The Panamera Turbo S goes on sale this spring for $174,175 including destination and delivery, a premium of $37,900 over a base Panamera Turbo.

2012 Mercedes-Benz A-Class C

2012 Mercedes-Benz A-Class C
Mercedes' A-Class has historically been a four-door hatchback more concerned with environmentally friendly utilitarian duties than making a statement about style. For the 2011 New York and Shanghai Auto Shows, Mercedes intends to change that frumpy image with an aggressively styled concept that looks more performance hot-hatch than green hipster-hauler, taking the A-Class in an entirely new direction. Thought it is just a concept, it might show the direction the front-wheel drive platform is headed-one that will appeal to a more youthful and enthusiastic buyer.
Looking ready to go head-to-head with the likes of the Audi A3 and Volvo C30, the A-Class Concept is powered by a 210-horsepower 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged I-4 mated to a dual-clutch transmission. In hot-hatch tradition, this powertrain is splayed out transversely across the front of the car.
The design language seen on this new A-Class first appeared on another concept, the F800 Style shown at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show. The body consists of free-flowing surfaces accented with sharp creases. Mercedes states that the styling was influenced by wind and waves and reflects aviation engineering. This theme is reflected in the interior, with see-through fabric stretched over a skeletal structure. The vents, instrumentation, and shifter all reflect avionic controls, looking minimalist and very futuristic at the same time.
The A-Class Concept is stuffed with technology. Mercedes boasts of being the first in the compact segment to offer a radar-based collision avoidance system and adaptive brake technology. The system audibly and visually warns inattentive drivers about possible collisions while preparing the braking system for an immediate and powerful stop. Infotainment details are handled by a fully integrated smartphone and use a three-dimensional dash display formed of magenta-colored laser lines. The interior seats four in separate buckets, and one long center console is shared by both the front and rear seats.
Rumors of Mercedes bringing the A-Class to the American market have been brewing for years. It looks like we may be one step closer, but in an entirely unexpected form. Instead of a smallish people-mover, it may very well end up being an upscale performance hatchback. There is even a possibility it may turn into multiple A-Class vehicles. We will get our first look at the concept in New York later this month. Maybe Mercedes will have more information about future plans then.

2012 Nissan Versa pictures

2012 Nissan Versa
Nissan had previously released preview sketches of its next-generation subcompact model, but had shied away from announcing an exact venue for its introduction. Officials now tell us, however, that the new model will make its first public introduction in NYC.2012 Nissan Versa
Further details are still under strong lock and key, but we wouldn't be surprised if the new model -- which may or may not retain the Versa name -- bears a strong resemblance to a new subcompact sedan Nissan recently launched in another corner of the world. The Sunny, which was introduced at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China last month, not only appears to be the splitting image of the Versa teaser, but also rides upon Nissan's new global V-platform. First used on the latest Micra, excutives have long hinted that same architecture will be used in the next Versa.
That doesn't, however, mean the American-spec models will mirror the Chinese car spec-for-spec. Using the V-platform will, however, potentially allow Nissan to further reduce manufacturing costs tied to the new vehicle program, and subsequently allow Nissan to further drop the base price. That last point may prove important -- after all, the automaker has previously been proud of offering Versas in both fully loaded and value-priced forms.

2012 Hyundai Veloster

The Veloster concept has come to life as a production model at this week’s 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Hyundai’s Veloster is actually more outlandish than the 2007 design study thanks to its asymmetric layout with a single door on the driver’s side and two conventional doors on the passenger-side.
The Veloster’s total interior volume of 105.3 cubic feet beats all the aforementioned models, while the automaker also notes that at just 2,584 pounds, its small coupe is more than 400 pounds lighter than the Scion tC.

In interior of Hyundai Veloster includes the center stack and controls are said to resemble a sport bike fuel tank and incorporate an available push-button starter. Hyundai added that the air vents are inspired by motorcycle tailpipes, while the floor console mirrors the seat of a bike.

Hyundai Veloster’s compact offering will be offered with an all-new 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine featuring Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) technology. It produces an estimated peak output of 138 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and maximum torque of 123 lb.-ft. at 4,850 rpm, and can combined with a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an all-new, six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) developed by Hyundai.
